Loving musicals for over 114 years
Chesterfield Operatic Society consists of around 60 members of all ages. With well over a hundred years of history, the Operatic as it is affectionately known, is one of the best amateur theatre companies in the East Midlands. We're not just saying that either, we regularly win awards for Best Musical in the area and have also won the Cole Hinks Award for Best Overall Performance, beating groups from as far afield as Milton Keynes.
We rehearse on Monday and Wednesday (and very occasionally on Sundays) at the Society's own building and rehearsal space in the centre of Chesterfield.
We perform twice a year at the Pomegranate Theatre, Chesterfield with a show in April and one in November. Much work goes into the final product to create a polished performance. Budgets are generally extensive and include a full professional band, exquisite costumes and beautifully designed sets.
New members are invited to join the Society at the beginning of each semester. Membership is by a short informal audition. We are a very friendly society and welcome new members with open arms.
For more information on how to join our society please contact our Secretary, Jacqui Day via our Contact Page.
